On 8 November 2023 in Wrocław, we met at the closing conference of the project 'Sustainable ecosystem for climate education - Poland, Germany, Czech Republic' with everyone who cares about the state of the environment in Poland and on our beautiful planet. It was a great opportunity to summarise the activities undertaken in the project, but also to look boldly into the future.
The conference started with a lecture by Ms. Ewa Ewart, a journalist and award-winning documentary film director, who showed the trailer of her new film 'To the Last Drop', which deals with the degradation of river ecosystems and the struggle of climate activists who are trying with superhuman strength to save rivers and raise awareness among local communities, regional and national authorities about the consequences of the destruction of nature.
Using wonderful and inspiring examples, presented by students from Lower Silesian, Czech and German schools, we showed that it is possible to teach about the climate in an actionable way, through student involvement and cooperation.
At the conference, a climate education handbook for teachers was ceremonially presented. It provided teachers and students with a tool to show how to teach about the climate, but also to foster the behaviours and skills needed in today's labour market.
The Climate Education Handbook is available to download free of charge on the Climate Educators' Platform provided by the Foundation. Simply download the file below or go to:

Other interesting material on climate and climate education will also be posted on the platform, including podcasts and educational webinars on climate, rivers and wetlands, and the importance of empathy in the learning process.
The conference was rounded off with a workshop led by Ms. Aldona Kucner. After a short creative warm-up, the participants were divided into mixed groups (as to age and environment) and then asked to come up with ideas and recommendations on how to implement climate education within the current core curriculum of individual subjects as well as within interdisciplinary projects.
Participants worked independently with the support of a facilitator, and when the creative work was completed, they presented the ideas generated at each table in turn.
The project leader is the Forum for Social Initiatives Foundation and the partners from the beginning are the Marshal Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodship, Stredisko ekologicke vychovy SEVER from the Czech Republic and Eurosoc-digital GmbH (EUD) from Germany. The project is implemented within the framework of the EUKI - European Climate Initiative, which is funded by Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
